Oopsie

We have arrived in the little 2,500 person town of Santa Rosa, NM on the historic Route 66!  The drive down from Boulder was absolutely stunning.  The territory is absolutely gorgeous.  We stopped in this little antique store right off the highway in Trinidad, CO that Ronan recommended.  What an incredible little find.  It is attached to a liquor store which just adds to the charm.  But the store itself is about as big as a laundry room and packed to the brim with antique furniture, guns, western memorabilia, and Native American jewelry.  The man who runs it looked like he stepped right out of a John Wayne movie and told us he goes down to the reservation for all the jewelry and finds his antiques at estate sales across the Southwest.  This for me has been an incredible part of this journey.  Meeting new people all across the country and hearing their stories.  It has only been a week and a half and I have already been to four new states and met some incredible individuals.  I feel very blessed and satisfied with the journey so far and we haven't even seen any tornadoes yet!  YET!

Tomorrow isn't looking too bad based on the model forecasts.  The only downside is that the CSWR team has never intercepted in NM before and the road network here is pretty awful.

And hey this wouldn't be a full day without an embarrassing moment for me!  We each have a car door only key for our vehicles and then the drivers have the ignition key.  Well tonight around 10pm I went to open the car door with my key like I've been doing all along...and THE ALARM GOES OFF.  A big Dodge Ram 2500 Big Horn Edition makes a crap ton of noise.  At 10pm.  In a small town.  In a motel.  I was running around frantically trying to find Ronan to make it stop with the ignition key because hitting lock wouldn't work and it probably took him about 45sec to realize whose car it was.  Everyone told me not to sweat it and they had no idea why it happened except for some weird glitch with the alarm being turned on.  But the lady from the front desk came to ask me if the alarm on our chase vehicles was a "regular thing" and would it go off all night...Really?? Let's just add some icing to the cake, shall we? :) :)
